Interpretation

"Ghost" is the shadow side of *Delight*, and it moves like one. Built on a moody, minor-key R&B groove with a stalking bassline and percussion that stays dry and clipped, it uses silence aggressively — beats drop out mid-phrase, leaving the vocal exposed in a way that feels less like a production flourish than an ambush. BAEKHYUN sings it with unusual restraint for a singer capable of enormous power, staying in a controlled middle register and only letting the voice crack open near the end, which makes the release genuinely startling. The lyric concerns a presence that won't leave: a person gone from the room but not from the head, memory behaving like haunting. The imagery is sensory rather than narrative — traces, afterimages, the shape of someone in a space they've vacated. Emotionally it's not grief so much as the low-grade dread of realizing you've stopped being able to tell absence from company. This is where his solo work argues most convincingly for range beyond the vocal-showcase ballad. Suited to walking alone through a familiar neighborhood after something has ended, when every corner has an old version of a night attached to it.
