"Sun & Moon" is the one on CHERRY BOMB that people cry to. It's built on almost nothing: a fingerpicked acoustic guitar, a soft synth pad that swells only when it has to, brushed percussion, and a vocal arrangement that hands the song to the singers and gets out of the way. The conceit is the time difference between two people — one under the sun, one under the moon, sleeping in shifts, never awake in the same hours. It's long-distance love written with astronomical patience rather than desperation, and the melody keeps resolving upward, as if the separation were survivable. Taeil's upper register does most of the emotional work here, thin and clear at the top of his range in a way that reads as restraint rather than strain; Doyoung and Jaehyun fill the middle with a rounder warmth. Notably the rap sections are sung-rapped, folded into the texture, refusing the usual hard tonal break. In the context of a group marketed on noise and neon, this track functioned as proof of vocal legitimacy, and fans have treated it as the group's emotional signature ever since.
