Interpretation

The synthesizers here don't shimmer — they erupt, slowly, like a sunrise accelerated. Porter Robinson built this track with a kind of controlled ecstasy, the production moving in gradual swells that crest without warning into something overwhelming in the best possible way. His voice, pitched upward and filtered through a distinctly digital grain, is paradoxically more human for the processing — raw feeling routed through artifice until it becomes undeniable. The lyrical premise is deceptively simple: an artist telling himself that he will keep going, that tomorrow he'll look at the sky and know it was worth it. But the emotional weight underneath that premise is enormous — it contains years of creative paralysis, of doubt so severe it nearly ended the project that became *Nurture*. Within the context of that album's four-year gestation, this track functions almost as a thesis statement, the moment where intention becomes commitment. It helped define a strand of emotionally maximalist electronic music that arrived in 2021, speaking directly to people who had spent long pandemic months questioning the point of their own work. It belongs in the moment just before you start something again.
