Marcus Intalex carried grief inside his productions in a way that very few drum and bass artists ever managed, and Your Soul is perhaps the most concentrated expression of that gift. The track moves at the standard rolling tempo but seems somehow slower — a paradox created by the weight of the atmosphere rather than the BPM. Pads bloom beneath the percussion like light through water, warm and slightly blurred at the edges, while the vocal sample at its center is deployed with the restraint of someone who knows that repetition transforms a phrase into a mantra.
