"Annihilate" is arguably the most kinetic and unhinged track on *Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse*, a piece of music designed to synchronize with visual chaos and achieve it. Metro Boomin builds the beat around a manic energy that still somehow maintains architectural control — it escalates without losing shape, adding layers of distortion and noise that feel like controlled demolition. The low end is enormous and punishing, but the production never goes fully formless. Lil Uzi Vert is in a particularly unrestrained mode here, delivering verses with a velocity and pitch that mirrors the visual action the track was designed for. Their voice functions almost as another instrument, the melodic screech of it cutting through the dense production. There's no real emotional interiority to the song — it's designed for pure kinetic feeling, for the moment when the action sequence hits its apex and the audience needs sonic permission to feel overwhelmed. The lyrics are largely concerned with dominance and momentum, which is perfectly matched to the superhero-battle context. It exists in the tradition of rap tracks designed for blockbuster sync, but Metro and Uzi do enough that it doesn't feel purely functional.
