Interpretation

The same band, the same album, but a completely different gravitational field. Where "Hand of Doom" sinks, this one launches — a riff built from pure chromatic aggression, played at a tempo that feels genuinely violent after the dirge that precedes it. Iommi's guitar has a raw, almost unprocessed ferocity here, the notes articulated with percussive precision, and Ward's drumming is correspondingly explosive rather than monolithic. Ozzy's delivery flips into full-throated exhilaration, the lyrics a kind of delirious power fantasy that reads almost like a superhero incantation. There is something paradoxically joyful about the track — it is heavy music that is not oppressive but liberating, the sheer physicality of the playing carrying a kind of euphoric release. Rob Halford of Judas Priest reportedly called it his favorite Sabbath track, and you can hear why: it plants the seed for everything speed metal and thrash would later become. This is the song for driving too fast on an empty road at noon, windows down, volume past the point of comfort.
