"Chase Me" in its orchestral form performs an act of excavation — removing the post-punk drive and distorted guitars to reveal the gothic architecture that always underpinned Dreamcatcher's debut. The original had tension that came from momentum, from relentless rhythmic propulsion. The orchestra replaces that kinetic energy with something more static and dread-inducing: sustained string clusters, brass that enters like a door opening onto something unwanted, the absence of a driving beat making every downbeat land with disproportionate weight. The vocal melodies, free from the supporting grid of drum machine and electric bass, now feel like they're being chased rather than doing the chasing — which is, perhaps, the more honest interpretation of the lyric. There is something almost theatrical about it, operatic in the Romantic tradition of storms and darkness and figures running through them.
