"We Are" is ONE OK ROCK's *Ambitions*-era pivot into arena pop-rock — Taka co-wrote with Western hitmakers, and you can hear the polish: programmed low-end, a four-on-the-floor pulse under the chorus, guitars processed until they read as texture rather than riff. Some Japanese fans took this as a betrayal of the band's harder past; heard fairly, it's a band chasing a room 50,000 people wide and mostly reaching it. The song is addressed outward — *we are, we are* as a collective claim, written for anyone who's been told they're broken or wrong. It's uplift built on a foundation of specific injury: the verses admit the falling apart before the chorus insists on the standing up. Taka sings almost entirely in English here, and the accent that once marked the band as Japanese-rock-exporting-itself now sits in a fully international production, which is either the loss or the achievement depending on where you stand.
