"Damage" is *Don't Mess Up My Tempo*'s hardest-hitting B-side, and it's built almost entirely from low frequencies and attitude. The beat is sparse hip-hop with a sub-bass that carries the melodic information, snapping percussion, and a hook that drops out the drums to leave the vocal exposed for a beat before slamming back in — a tension trick the track runs several times without wearing it out. There's very little harmonic movement; the whole thing lives on groove and space. The vocal character is swaggering and clipped, with Sehun and Chanyeol given real room to rap and the singers adopting a talk-sung phrasing that keeps everything close to the beat rather than floating above it. Baekhyun's ad-libs in the final third are the one moment of open-throat release. The lyric is confrontational — a warning to someone who thinks they can play games, promising damage as consequence — and the English-Korean code-switching lands with a smirk rather than menace.
