The jealousy here isn't explosive — it's slow and simmering, housed inside a production that moves like something underwater, weighted and deliberate. The synthesizers have a darker, thicker quality than on some of Murphy's brighter material; there's a sense of something being suppressed, of emotion working against its own containment. The rhythm is minimal but insistent, creating negative space that Murphy fills with her voice, which here operates at a lower register than usual, smoky and close. She sounds like someone thinking out loud, working through the emotion as she sings it rather than arriving already decided, and that quality of process gives the performance unusual immediacy. The lyrical landscape maps the specific geography of jealousy — not rage, exactly, but the particular ache of imagining someone else in a role you feel belongs to you. Murphy is too sophisticated a performer to simply emote; she observes herself feeling, which creates a kind of doubled perspective, the subject and the narrator of the subject simultaneously. Sonically this belongs to the deeper, more introspective corner of European electronic music — less peak-hour club and more the walk home afterward, when the music follows you rather than carries you.
