Interpretation

The song announces itself immediately with a guitar riff that has the compressed, slightly dangerous energy of something about to spring loose. This is GLAY in a more kinetic mode — the tempo is brisk, the rhythm section locks in with precision rather than looseness, and the production has a chrome-bright sheen that was very much the sound of late-1990s Japanese rock radio. But beneath the surface polish there is real tension. The verses carry a sense of restless circling, a narrator who knows they are moving toward something they should probably avoid and is moving toward it anyway, faster with each bar. Teru's vocal delivery shifts here from the tenderness he brings to ballads into something more urgent and slightly reckless — the phrasing is quicker, the consonants sharper, and there is a grin buried somewhere in the delivery that makes the whole thing feel less like confession and more like provocation. The chorus releases the tension sideways rather than upward, which gives it an unusual quality: it feels like relief and escalation at the same time. Lyrically the song is about desire as gravity — the recognition that you are being pulled and the decision to stop resisting. Culturally it arrived at a moment when GLAY was filling domes and the song had to function at enormous scale, which explains why every element is engineered for maximum impact without sacrificing the sense of forward motion. Best heard loud, in a car with the windows down, moving somewhere specific and slightly ill-advised.
