Curve arrived fully formed with a sound that felt engineered for maximum emotional impact through maximum sensory overload — and Fait Accompli is their thesis statement. Toni Halliday's voice is the astonishing center of the track: powerful and clear but deployed against a backdrop of industrial-weight guitar noise and electronic percussion that should overwhelm it and somehow doesn't, the contrast becoming the point. The production is dense to the point of opacity in places, layered with distortion and synthetic textures that give the song the texture of something collapsed under its own gravity. The drums are hard and programmed-feeling, locking the song into a relentless forward motion that refuses any of shoegaze's characteristic drowsiness.
