Acid Rain
Enrico Sangiuliano
Where "Astral Projection" looked outward, this track turns corrosive. Sangiuliano opens with a TB-303 acid line that doesn't shimmer so much as corrode — it bubbles and slides through frequencies with a distinctly chemical quality, as though the synth itself is dissolving. The kick is heavier here, more confrontational, carrying a distorted edge that makes the chest vibrate at the sternum rather than the hips. The track moves through tension rather than resolution; it builds pressure without ever fully releasing it, cycling through acid sequences that mutate in small, unsettling increments. There's a darkness in the emotional register — not nihilistic, but industrial, like standing in a factory during a thunderstorm and finding it beautiful. Melodic elements surface occasionally, brief and glassy, only to be swallowed back by the acid current. Sangiuliano demonstrates here his ability to make music that feels both deeply physical and conceptually precise — the acid rain of the title is viscerally accurate, a precipitation that stings. This belongs to the confrontational wing of European techno, the tradition that runs through Birmingham and Frankfurt and into the Italian underground. You reach for this when you want the music to push back against you, when you need something that matches the friction of a difficult night.
