The opening seconds sound like a building deciding to collapse — sheet metal shrieking against concrete, the groan of structural supports giving way — and then the whole apparatus locks into a brutal rhythmic logic that is somehow both chaotic and precise. Einstürzende Neubauten bring power tools, scrap metal, and salvaged industrial wreckage to the foreground, but they wield these materials with a percussionist's intelligence: the chaos is organized, the noise is composed. Blixa Bargeld's voice cuts through the din at full physical force, not singing so much as issuing statements of intent, each syllable carrying the weight of physical effort. The production is bone-dry and confrontational — there is no reverb softening the edges, no mix compression taming the peaks, only raw impact. The track functions as an argument that the contemporary city is inherently violent and that music made within it should sound like what it actually is: noise, machinery, compressed air, the groaning infrastructure of late industrial civilization.
