Interpretation

Barely two minutes of pure velocity — this is grunge at its most compressed and contemptuous. The guitars arrive already wound tight, a buzz-saw riff that feels less like music and more like machinery that has skipped straight past warming up. Cobain's vocals here are sneering and theatrical, almost cartoonish in their aggression, performing a kind of masculine bluster that the lyric simultaneously inhabits and mocks. The drums don't groove so much as hammer, locking the track into a forward momentum that refuses any ornamentation. Structurally it's almost brutalist: verse, chorus, done. There's no bridge, no release valve, no moment of tenderness. The song exists to demonstrate that you can make a point faster and more violently than your argument requires, and that the excess itself is the statement. You'd reach for this in traffic, in frustration, or in any moment when precision feels like a luxury you can't afford.
