POWER
지드래곤 (G-DRAGON)
G-Dragon's "POWER" announces itself like a returning emperor who cannot quite decide whether he's joking. His 2024 comeback single after years of military service and controversy is maximalist and self-aware, built on hard-hitting electronic production layered with his signature genre-fluid approach. The bass is enormous, the arrangement shifts unpredictably between trap percussion and something more psychedelic, and GD sounds entirely in command — his voice carrying the particular confidence of someone who invented a lane and then watched everyone else fill it. The lyrics are dense with self-reference, the kind of mythology-building that works because the mythology is real: he is, genuinely, among the most influential figures in K-pop's history. "POWER" isn't a comeback in the sense of needing to prove anything — it's a statement of continued relevance issued by someone who knows he doesn't need to issue it. Loud enough to fill a festival stage, specific enough to feel personal. Best experienced at high volume in headphones, alone, right before doing something that requires nerve.
