Antisocial
Anthrax
Another cover, this time of Trust's French hard rock original, "Antisocial" became one of Anthrax's signature tracks despite being borrowed material — a testament to how completely they inhabited the song. From *State of Euphoria*, the riff is memorable in the way only the best hard rock riffs are: simple enough to imprint immediately, energetic enough to sustain extended repetition. Belladonna's melodic delivery gives the track genuine crossover appeal; this is technically thrash but functionally accessible rock, and that refusal of genre orthodoxy was always part of what made Anthrax interesting. The chorus erupts with the kind of uncomplicated anthemic power that stadium rock aspires to and rarely achieves organically. Lyrically, the alienation theme is delivered with enough humor that it never becomes self-pity. It is a song for anyone who has felt like the only person in a room who isn't performing.
