SAULT's music arrives without faces, credits, or press, and "Fearless" carries that anonymity as part of its meaning. Built on a dry, tightly-swung funk drum break and a bassline that locks in and refuses to move, it layers hand percussion, a scratchy rhythm guitar, and choral vocals that feel recorded in a room rather than a booth — the production, in Inflo's hands, is deliberately raw, close-miked, and un-gridded, closer to a seventies soul session than to anything contemporary. The vocals are communal: a woman's lead answered by group responses, chanted more than sung, with the phrase repeated until it stops being a statement and becomes an instruction.
