Where other tracks in the trio's catalog breathe and expand, this one bears down with intentional menace. The synthesizers lock into a motorik pulse that accelerates gradually, generating heat through repetition and layering. Shabaka Hutchings' saxophone plays with near-violent urgency — multiphonics splitting the horn's voice into argument with itself, the sound of someone trying to contain more energy than any instrument should hold. Betamax's percussion is relentless, tribal without being referential, borrowing the logic of ritual drumming and processing it through a distinctly London electronic sensibility. Emotionally it functions as a summoning ritual, building collective energy toward catharsis — no words needed. The title is the entire spiritual program. This is music for transformative states: the end of a night out, the beginning of a ceremony, the moment before a decision that changes everything. It connects the British jazz new wave to Sun Ra, Pharoah Sanders, and Fela Kuti, all refracted through contemporary bass music aesthetics. The experience is physically demanding and deliberately so.
