From Andorra, the 2007 album that won Snaith the Polaris Prize and established his most direct engagement with 1960s pop-psychedelia, "Melody Day" is precisely what its title promises: a day surrendered entirely to melody, with nothing withheld. The Beach Boys influence is explicit and unashamed — multi-tracked harmonies cascade over each other in the manner of Pet Sounds sessions filtered through bedroom recording tools, warm and imprecise in ways that feel human rather than amateur.
