RÜFÜS DU SOL's "Repeat" is Australian melodic house at its most hypnotic and least anthemic, a track that earns its title by making circularity the emotional subject rather than a structural convenience. The production is glossy but deep — analog-warm synth pads, a bassline that breathes, live-feeling drum programming with real hi-hat swing, and enormous reverb that places everything in a dark, cavernous room. Tyrone Lindqvist's vocal is the band's signature instrument: a soft, slightly melancholy tenor drenched in delay, more felt than parsed, delivering lines about being caught in a cycle you recognize but can't exit. That's the lyric essence — the sober self-awareness of doing the same destructive or hopeful thing again, which the arrangement mirrors by looping a phrase until it becomes meditative rather than tedious.
