Bartees Strange builds music from contradictions he refuses to resolve — Black indie rock inflected with emo's vulnerability and post-punk's structural logic, genre-mixing that reads as autobiography rather than stylistic eclecticism. "Boomer" is among his more aggressive entries: production dense and layered, guitars distorted past comfort, drums hitting with a force that makes the relatively melodic vocal lines feel more exposed for the contrast.
