RADWIMPS made their name soundtracking Makoto Shinkai's animated films, and "すずめ" represents perhaps the most jubilant entry in that collaboration. Noda Yojiro's vocal is warm and slightly rough, conversational rather than formal, and it sits at the center of a mix that keeps adding layers without ever becoming cluttered. The song accompanies the 2022 film of the same name and shares its spirit: a road story, a young woman moving through disaster and loss toward something that refuses to be named despair.
