Sexy Nukim (feat. Erykah Badu)
RM
"Sexy Nukim" represents a very specific ambition: neo-soul as spiritual practice, the bedroom-funk production carrying intellectual weight most bedroom-funk tracks don't attempt. Erykah Badu's presence is electrifying — she brings the warmth and authority of classic soul tradition, and her voice against muted trumpet textures and a shuffling groove creates an environment of genuine depth. RM's verses oscillate between cosmic and mundane, the kind of K-rap that takes Kendrick Lamar's interior-monologue style seriously without simply copying it. "Nukim" is a Korean word for sensation or feeling — physical knowledge that precedes language — and the track tries to operate in that pre-verbal register while being, in the most direct possible way, a very funky song. Badu's ad-libs in the later sections are worth the price of the whole album, her voice seeming to arrive from a different atmospheric pressure than the rest of the production. A track for people who want their pop music to carry weight but don't want the weight to preclude movement. Works for focused creative work or very good dinner parties.
