Interpretation

Days Come and Go is one of the lightest things on Eternal Atake, a track where Uzi's melodic instinct does almost all the load-bearing. The beat is airy and high-pitched — bell-like synths, a skittering hi-hat pattern, 808s that punch and then evaporate rather than sustaining — leaving unusual amounts of open air for a Uzi song. His delivery slides constantly between rapping and singing, sometimes mid-syllable, with that signature slightly-strained upper register and the ad-libs stacked behind the main take like a chorus of one person. The lyrics are the standard post-fame inventory of money, distrust, and women who arrived after the checks did, but Uzi's charm has always been that he sings them with a kind of bored melancholy rather than triumph — the title itself is a shrug at time passing while nothing internally changes. Culturally it captures the late-2010s Philadelphia-via-internet strain of rap that dissolved the border between emo confession and trap flex, and it's a good argument for why Uzi outlasted most of that wave: the melodies are genuinely stubborn, catching in your head hours later. Best encountered in motion — driving with the windows down, or walking somewhere at speed with nowhere important to be.
