Get Low

A deliberate experiment in restraint dressed as a collaboration between two artists with opposite production instincts, "Get Low" keeps its head down and grinds forward with minimal melodic decoration. Zedd co-produces with a conscious willingness to strip his usual architectural grandeur, and the result is something more modest and more effective for it: a tropical-inflected groove with enough negative space to breathe. Liam Payne's vocal performance is warmer and more confident than much of his solo output, working within the track's limitations rather than straining against them. The lyrics operate in familiar territory — attraction, anticipation, the charged space before something happens — but the production's humidity gives them a setting that makes them feel less generic. The bass is rubbery and persistent, the percussion has a loose, live quality, and the synths hover at the edges rather than dominating. This is a summer song designed for outdoor speakers, backyard gatherings, or the moment a beach party transitions from afternoon to evening. Not Zedd's most ambitious work, but one of his most unpretentious — and there's genuine craft in knowing when not to show off.
