Maniac

Jhené Aiko's "Maniac" is a crystalline meditation on the mental and emotional spiraling that accompanies the loss of significant love — the particular irrationality of grief that knows itself to be irrational and continues anyway. Her production aesthetic is immediately recognizable: slow, floating tempos; sound-bath textures informed by her interest in crystal bowls and sound healing; and her voice, always her voice, fragile in its strength and certain in its fragility.
