Bethel Music's version of the nineteenth-century hymn Horatio Spafford wrote immediately after losing his daughters at sea is one of the more significant hymn re-imaginings in contemporary worship. The arrangement departs sharply from the traditional four-part harmony setting, situating the ancient text within a sparse, ambient-leaning production that allows the lyric's theological density to accumulate slowly before the full band arrives. Kristene DiMarco's vocal is the center of gravity: she sings with a quality of restraint that feels like genuine emotional containment — someone holding something very large very carefully, the control itself communicating the weight of what is being held. The production choice to delay the full arrangement means the sonic expansion of the final sections arrives as release rather than simply added volume.
