クスシキ reaches into archaic Japanese vocabulary — the word means something like wondrous or miraculous in a specifically older register, carrying connotations of things that exceed ordinary explanation — and builds a Mrs. GREEN APPLE track around that sense of awe and inexplicability. The production leans slightly more atmospheric than their most energetic work: layered keyboard textures appear underneath the guitars, and the arrangement creates a sense of breadth, as if trying to sonically evoke something that doesn't fit inside ordinary frames. Omori's vocals take on a different quality here, more measured and almost reverent, as if the archaic title has infected the delivery with a solemnity that coexists with their characteristic melodic brightness.
