"HYAENA" is UTOPIA announcing that Travis has traded psychedelia for menace. Built around a distorted, industrial low end and a sample-flip that keeps collapsing into silence, the beat behaves less like a loop than a series of doors slamming; the drums arrive late and hit like sheet metal. Travis raps here — actually raps, dense and syllabic, with far less melodic hiding than his 2018-era work — and his voice is compressed until it sounds physically strained, adjacent to Yeezus-era Kanye by design.
