Despite its title, this isn't euphoric music — it's the sound of chasing euphoria, which is something entirely different and far more interesting. The guitars carry a bright, almost brittle quality, catching light without warmth, and the tempo leans forward with a kind of anxious momentum. Synthesizer elements blur at the edges of the mix, giving the track a slightly synthetic quality that feels appropriate given what it's about — the brain chemistry of craving, the circular logic of needing the thing that empties you. The rhythm section drives with more insistence than on gentler DIIV material, the kick drum particularly purposeful. Vocally, the delivery sits at the intersection of detachment and urgency, the kind of contradiction that makes sense when you're describing addiction from inside it — the intellectual awareness coexisting with the inability to stop. DIIV were navigating well-documented personal darkness when this was made, and that context is encoded in the music without being worn explicitly on its sleeve.
