"Ferrari" comes from a corner of the internet that barely bothered with fidelity, and that's inseparable from why it works. Alice Gas builds the track from blown-out, clipping bass, jittery trap hi-hats, and synths that sound like they were bounced at the wrong bit depth on purpose — everything red-lined, everything smeared. The vocal is pitched up and drowned in processing until the words half-dissolve, a mode that turns bragging about cars and money into something dreamlike and unstable rather than triumphant. The emotional landscape is aspiration filtered through irony and then filtered again until you can't tell which layer is sincere: a flex performed by someone who knows the flex is a costume. Coming off Sorry 4 Being Famous in 2019, it belongs to the raw SoundCloud edge of the scene that later got tidied into "hyperpop" playlists — Gas was one of the artists making the music that Spotify would eventually name, working without label money or mastering budgets. The distortion isn't a bug being tolerated, it's the aesthetic thesis.
