Burnt

Decay is the central preoccupation of "Burnt." The title is apt: the music has the quality of something that has already passed through fire, that exists in the aftermath. Melodic fragments emerge and dissolve before completing themselves, rhythmic elements drop away unexpectedly, leaving exposed spaces that feel almost uncomfortable in their honesty. The production is denser than some Kiasmos work — there are layers here that reveal themselves only gradually, textures operating beneath the primary material that add weight and complexity. The emotional register is genuinely heavy, not in a performative way but in the way that exhaustion is heavy, or grief that has moved past acute pain into something quieter and more permanent. This is music that doesn't offer resolution because it doesn't believe resolution is always honest. The rhythm holds things together structurally while the melodic and harmonic content pulls toward dissolution — that tension between form and feeling is where the track lives. It belongs in a specific emotional geography: post-breakup weeks, the quiet after a significant ending, moments when you need music that doesn't pretend things are fine but also doesn't wallow. It witnesses without consoling.
